“It’s like we kind of? understand Gloria. She’s a dreamer or deluded, in any case she’s just human..”
A little bit of history:
The track Gloria, composed by Umberto Tozzi with foreign musicians at the end of the 70s, acquired international fame in 1982 thanks to an English-language version by American singer, songwriter and actress Laura Branigan, and sold over two million copies in the United States.
The song’s international fame was further consolidated by its feature in the musical Flashdance (1983).
A curiosity: in 2010, a South-Korean tv series was named after Gloria. In the show, actress Bae Doona (who played the role of clone Sonmi-451 in the movie Cloud Atlas) is a night-club singer who achieves success with a remake of the song in Korean language.
